surf to go

Well a terrible shock about a month ago came back to haunt me today. I’d like to say that time heals hurts, but it’s going to take a lot longer obviously. When you think you are doing all right, it creeps right up behind you again and slaps you hard right in your kidneys, one of the worst assaults upon the body. One of those times you just feel like packing up and disappearing for a while. Have Surf, and very close to saying, will go. Hmm.

joe’s fish shack

A very good place to go for fish and chips in Fremantle, Perth. The seagulls think so too!

urban escape

I came across this old building on the way back from the harbour where the children and I had dined on fresh fish and chips. It was, a long time ago, once a fine old building with an old-fashioned type pub with an old-fashioned type hotel upstairs. Now, it lays derelict, as it appears to have done so for some time. Out with the old and in with the new.

magpie thinking

Well yes, I had a couple of days away from the blog here, not by choice, but things got awfully busy and a bit stressful. And when the going gets tough, the not-so-tough go for a long drive around the outskirts of the city into some bush and go take photos of magpies and dams and other things. Many thanks to C for navigating, listening to questionable music cd on car stereo without complaint and the great picnic lunch. Oh, and thanks to the magpie who stood still long enough to get an interesting shot!

tomato on vine

When I was a kid, there was nothing really special about home-grown tomatoes off a vine. Maybe I was spoilt, and little did I know how they would become a much sought after commodity 25 years on! However these days, I stop for a moment and realise how much my tastebuds have been spoiled for the taste of them, compared to the supermarket variety that are early-picked and chilled then tossed onto a display under fluourescent lights day in and day out. Now, we pay the premium price for a couple of small home-grown and hand-picked tomatoes at the supermarket, complete with the premium knocks and dents and bruises, just so that we know, it’s really a real tomato!

bird eye

I got my eye on you, yes I have. A stereotypical cross-looking seagull spotted down at the beach while he (or she!) was spotting something else!

park lights

Park lights, Kings Park lights at night. They light up the trees on different occasions in different hues to signify different events, such as Australia Day, Pink Ribbon Day (Breast Cancer).

indian sunset

Went to the beach last evening to watch the sun set and have a picnic while the children dabbled in the sea. Soy ginger chicken wings and fresh garden salad were the order of the day and it all tasted divine with the view that we had. Later, went up for a drive to the Park, and oversaw views of the city skyline. It may be what some people class as a small country town rather than a city metropolis, but it’s a fantastic place to call home. And home is always where the heart is.

penny for your thoughts

Penny for your thoughts, a very interesting phrase. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the brain of a child.

tea with one

A quiet moment to sit and reflect over a very hectic day spent in the city. Was a witness for a court hearing. The hearing will be continuing. Well, I guess it becomes a trial then. How many hearings to make a trial? Why are trials so trialling, and are they hearing what I say? Why does wearing a dress and saying yes sir and no sir make such a difference? Just because it does. And that is the way it is, sometimes it’s the same in nursing, because that is just how we do things so.
